I may be killed for saying this, but I disagree with Miranda Priestly. Florals ARE groundbreaking.
Just look at the pants Brit and I chose to wear for our most recent photo shoot. In such bright hues, accessories can be kept at a minimum and you will never worry about being a wallflower, or worse, a weed.
Brit's feminine high-waisted style is great for work or dinner in town. A crop top or simple tee would be perfect with such a statement pant. Remember, the idea is minimalism when a piece of your outfit is so loud.
My pants are actually denim. A nice seasonal departure from classic blue jeans, they are ideal for a weekend spent with friends or people that you can actually tolerate. In chillier months, they go great with a white button up in a boyfriend fit.
Honestly though, let us just be happy that the 80s style of power dressing is behind us. Grotesque shoulder pads larger than babies are forever (hopefully) buried deep in our mothers attics. In 2016 it's all about the flower.
