Our Latest Collab - Fruits of our Labor

When we first saw Madelines work, we knew partnering with her would be amazing. Madeline is a graduate of Philadelphia University, and her these collection featured some seriously incredible pieces are centered around the female form.  Here is a short description of Madelines inspiration-  "For those of you who don’t know me personally, I’m Madeline Halsey, the woman behind Fruits of Our Labor! Throughout my entire artistic career I’ve always had a fascination and strong appreciation for the female form and along with most young women, I’ve struggled with loving my own body. At age 17 I discovered that my hymen was still completely intact, at 18 it was surgically removed. A few months later I was diagnosed with Vaginismus,...

Grinches Guide to Gifting

The way I see it, we are a country divided. Not to worry, this isn’t an opinion piece on the extreme political polarity of America, as tempting as that is with mid-term elections being last week. I’m talking about the “Christmas Elves” and the “Grinches”. Almost all of us fit into one category or another. Either you are the sprightly little beings who turn-up to the Christmas Classics the day after Halloween (Thanksgiving? What’s that?). The ones who are Mrs. Claus incarnate and do their shopping months in advance, taking their time to artfully wrap gifts - in between cookie baking, putting up a 5th Christmas tree, and hanging mistletoe in the most essential places. And then… There is the...

The #TesoroTribe Gift Guide

Hello beautiful! Christmas is only 14 days away, and Hanukkah starts tomorrow! Whatever you might be celebrating this season, we have the perfect gift for you and your loved ones. We just added a "Gifts Under $100" section to the site, and its chock-full of great gifts. Those items can all be embossed with initials or a cute but short quote to tell the ones you love why you love them.  Here at Tesoro, we also believe in supporting other makers. We have some gorgeous jewelry and useful clay pieces, all made in Philly, and all made by ladies. Those items are available in store, but if you like something you see we would be happy to take a phone order...

Nasty Women Unite!

The nasty woman movement is upon us, and now is the time to get involved!  This past weekend marked the launch of our Nasty Woman choker line. 20% of all sales from our nasty collection will be donated to Planned Parenthood. It means a lot to Brit and myself to contribute to such an iconic and important organization. Giving back to the community and taking a stand is something we aim for Tesoro to do again and again. Stand up with us and let's be nasty!

Behind The Scenes: The Technical Side

The other week the Tesoro spotlight was on Brit and her bag-making process, which was a perfect lead-up to the launch of our most recent collection. Now, I'd like to shift gears a little and take you over to the other side, my side of Tesoro.  Vastly different from what Brit does, many consider my area of concentration to be the "not so fun side." I've seen it before at the different events we attend. Once I say I am not the one making the bags, eyes tend to glaze over and the disinterest is palpable. As you can imagine, I don't love when this happens.  Part of the problem is that people simply don't understand what I do on a...

The Photo Shoot

This past Sunday, what could have turned into a bloodbath of cattiness ended as an inspiring and successful eleven hour photo shoot. Switching up our shooting process from previous collections, Brit and I worked with local women photographers and a videographer to capture our S/S 17 line. Typically, we shoot our collections outdoors and either end the day with frostbitten fingers or total dehydration depending on the season. Not wanting to repeat either of those situations, every photo was shot inside the well-heated Brow Bar this time around. Owner of The Brow Bar, Tara Giorgio, graciously opened the doors for us on her day off and even modeled in a few of our pictures. Tara has a very strong personal...
