Our Latest Collab - Fruits of our Labor

When we first saw Madelines work, we knew partnering with her would be amazing. Madeline is a graduate of Philadelphia University, and her these collection featured some seriously incredible pieces are centered around the female form.  Here is a short description of Madelines inspiration-  "For those of you who don’t know me personally, I’m Madeline Halsey, the woman behind Fruits of Our Labor! Throughout my entire artistic career I’ve always had a fascination and strong appreciation for the female form and along with most young women, I’ve struggled with loving my own body. At age 17 I discovered that my hymen was still completely intact, at 18 it was surgically removed. A few months later I was diagnosed with Vaginismus,...

Permanent Changes

Hey guys!  Happy new year! I can't believe I haven't written on here since November. Lots has happened since then, and the Holidays were our best yet here at Tesoro. There are a couple quick things I would love to update you guys on with timelines and collection, and then I am going to tell you guys about some new product in the works.  So, first, I wanted to take a second to explain the seasonal changes going on with our collection. The bags that came out in November (The Nora, The Chelsea, The Audrey, The Anne, and The Ellie) are now, and forever more, stapes in the Tesoro collection. Since 2015 when Tesoro became my full-time job I have been...

Finding Sanity

The Summer of change.  Hey, again guys. So as you guys know, so much has changed in the past few months, and I am here to tell you that there is more change to come.  Over the past couple weeks, I have been asking you guys for your advice on updates to the bag designs, and this is because I am hoping to work with this great manufacturer I found in LA. I've been looking for help for a while, but it has been difficult to find manufacturers who don't have huge minimums. These minimums are often around 50 bags minimum per leather color so it can get really expensive really fast. I finally found one that has been super transparent...

The #TesoroTribe Gift Guide

Hello beautiful! Christmas is only 14 days away, and Hanukkah starts tomorrow! Whatever you might be celebrating this season, we have the perfect gift for you and your loved ones. We just added a "Gifts Under $100" section to the site, and its chock-full of great gifts. Those items can all be embossed with initials or a cute but short quote to tell the ones you love why you love them.  Here at Tesoro, we also believe in supporting other makers. We have some gorgeous jewelry and useful clay pieces, all made in Philly, and all made by ladies. Those items are available in store, but if you like something you see we would be happy to take a phone order...

Moving On Up...To Ground Level

Well, we did it. Tesoro officially has its own store! So far we have been open for a total of 32 hours, also known as four days, and it has been extraordinary. The best part you ask? Personally speaking, having three large windows is priceless. For the past year-and-a-half I have been working from a basement office with zero windows, so our new space is a literal step-up in more ways than one.  This past Friday was our soft opening. Even with torrential downpours on and off throughout the night, we had a wonderful turnout. Friends, family and loyal customers sipped champagne and celebrated with us in our new home, 230 W Market Street in downtown West Chester, PA.  Please...

Wyebrook Music Festival

The Spring/ Summer 2016 line came out one week ago. Emily and I were done a little earlier than expected, so we launched the site early. (Not before a celebratory dinner and a couple drinks from Sidebar obviously) We couldn’t believe the positive response! We sold 2 bags before the site was even live, and since then we have sold another seven.  Not exactly Prada, but its all about the small victories for small businesses.      This weekend we spent our Saturday at Wyebrook Farm. One of my favorite places in the world, Wyebrook is a sustainable farm to table that features gorgeous indoor and outdoor eating spaces, and trails throughout the property to have a little adventure. Their...

Backroom Talk: Episode I

So much learning is happening right now. To the point where my brain hurts.   Taxes are the main cause of my brain pain. Luckily, the only taxes I file for Tesoro are PA sales tax and something called a business privilege tax. Let me tell you, filing this thing is anything but a privilege.   “Why in the world is this person in charge of accounting for a company?” is a question you may be asking yourself. Yes, I did take an accounting class in college. Ironically, the class was completely in French (a language I am far from fluent in), and all I learned was that there is such a thing as accounts receivable. Didn’t learn what it...
